    Something different for the weekend.

Hi all. As the title says, I'm on the hunt for a weekend car. One that needs a little work but not a complete basket case with astronomical mileage. Can't be newer than 97 for the classic insurance (I already have two insurance policies and can't afford to start another no claims). Ideally an E36 cabrio or a Z3, around two litres. Any help would be appreciated.

    Alan.

E30 cabrio an option? Most of the cabrio seem to be priced cheaper than the 2 doors. https://www.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-...-318i/13598018

You shouldn't be stuck for a choice of E36 cabrio or Z3 though, seem to be a good few bargains out there. This one looks like a good base - the 2.5 engine is sweet, just needs bit of de-modification! https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sal...-323i/12977054

Ken. I'm already taxing a 3 litre E39 and a 2 litre Subaru. I'd like to keep to around 2 litres if I could. I'd also try to stick with an E36. The E30 parts are getting a bit thin on the ground.

Yeah thats fair enough. I'm not finding it too hard to get parts for my own E30 build, prices have jumped a bit on some bits though - you could get into an E30 cabrio on vintage tax though if you looked long enough - €56 p/a road tax is a nice saving.

Will keep an eye out for some E36's!
