If you've followed these steps -
your centre console will look like the picture on the right.
Next step is to remove the lower centre console section. The
storage box should pop out - don't be afraid to use brute force
- you won't need the console once its out. Remove the gear knob,
and gaiter, and then remove the trim that goes around it - it's
held in with two screws. Once thats out, you can remove two of
the screws that hold in the console - the other two screws are
at the top, previously covered by the storage box.
Once unscrewed, remove the console. The options strip (with the
ASC button/Heated seats etc) is held into the console by two
torx screws - unscrew them, and remove the strip. The cigarette
lighter also needs to be removed. There are two plastic 'clips'
securing it - push them inwards with a screwdriver, and push the
lighter out. |

This is what you'll be faced with
once both sections of the centre console have been removed. Next
step is to remove the instrument cluster - its held in with two
torx screws. Once they are removed, tilt the cluster forwards
and pull it out. Undo the two connectors on the back of it.
Next, remove the glovebox, and the trim piece covering the
fusebox. The console around the handbrake also needs to come out
- remove the two screws which are by the gear lever, then undo
the rear section - the ashtray comes out to reveal two screws,
remove this section, and you then need to remove another two
screws. The rest of the section unclips out. |

By this stage, at least 30 minutes will have passed, so its safe
to remove the passenger seat. Its held in by two nuts at the
front, and two bolts at the back. Once undone, tilt the seat
backwards and unclip the wiring loom. Then remove the seat from
the car.
The plastic trim by the door also needs to be removed - to be
honest I'm incapable of removing this properly. It needs to be
pulled forwards (towards the front of the car) and it should
then come out. I've never been able to pull it forward by the
required amount, and it broke the last time I removed it, making
it simple enough to remove this rime round. |
